G-THREE
SAMMY JACKSON
JUNO Award Winner
Vocal Jazz Album of the Year
With two EPs, a full-length album, and a 2021 JUNO win for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year, Jamaican Canadian singer-songwriter Sammy Jackson has quickly become one of the most exciting young musicians on the Canadian music scene. Jackson has performed on some of Canada's premier stages, including the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, the Toronto Jazz Festival, Koerner Hall, Flato Markham Theatre, and Westben. With her beautiful tone and a strong understanding of musical tradition, Jackson is a confident, subtle singer who has developed a unique sound, both as a vocalist and as a composer, melding jazz, R&B, pop, and other influences into a style all her own. Sammy Jackson’s debut full-length album In The Meantime was released in late 2024, and very much reflects where Jackson is in this season of her life; the lyrics, production, and performances are strongly influenced by being a mother, a wife, and a graduate student at the University of Toronto. The songs are truly the stars of the album, with Jackson using her formidable technique to communicate the emotional truth in every note, inviting listeners into a beautiful world of her own creation.
